About Resume By Nico

Boutique Resume Writer for Creatives & Leaders

Hi, I’m Nico! Your unicorn 🦄 in the world of resume writing. If you’ve been scouring the internet for modern resume writing services that aren’t templated, boring, or run by a faceless team, welcome home.

I’m a resume writer and career storyteller for creatives, leaders, and multidimensional humans who refuse to be flattened into bullet points. Since launching Resume by Nico in 2012, I’ve helped over 1,450 clients around the world create stunning, strategic, interview-winning resumes that sound like them.

This isn’t a resume factory. I do not outsource. I don’t have a team (unless you count my two big, dopey dogs). It’s just me: a one-woman studio blending strategy, storytelling, and a little bit of magic.

A woman smiling outdoors among greenery, wearing a black crop top and earrings.
A happy dog with a tan and black coat sitting on green grass, looking up at the camera with its tongue out.
A black and brown dog with a pink tongue lying on green grass in a backyard. There is a yellow tennis ball between its legs and a gray park bench in the background.

Me and my team: Dori (10) is pure angel energy and Dottie (2) is pure chaos. Balance ☯️

My Signature Framework

THE WAY I WORK IS DIFFERENT

I see resume writing as a blend of strategy, storytelling, and energy. My process connects the logic of your experience with the emotion of your story, helping decision-makers feel your value in seconds. My goal isn’t just to showcase what you’ve done, but to position who you are clearly, confidently, and in alignment with what’s next.

ENERGY & ALIGNMENT

ALIGN YOUR STORY AND ENERGY WITH WHAT’S NEXT

Every word, layout choice, and line of copy carries a frequency. When your resume is rooted in the past, it repels what’s meant for you. When it’s aligned with your future, it becomes magnetic. This is why I teach clients to treat their resumes like a visualization practice. [Read post↗]

POSITIONING & STORY

CLARITY AND CONTEXT THAT MOVE YOUR STORY FORWARD

Every line should have purpose. My approach creates a clear throughline between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming. I cut anything that clouds the message and write for your future audience, not your past one.

STRUCTURE & STRATEGY

DESIGN, FLOW, AND FOCUS ROOTED IN PSYCHOLOGY AND STRATEGY

I think about how information feels and flows: what the reader sees first, what makes them pause, what they remember. It’s marketing, UX, and personal branding combined into one clear, intentional story — formatted in a beautiful design, because packaging matters.

MY STORY

From Logic to Magic

For my entire life, I’ve been driven by a deep need to make sense of everything.

Through patterns, numbers, and logic, I tried to understand the world. To measure it, analyze it, and find proof for every feeling.

I earned degrees in psychology, organizational behavior, and advanced research and statistics — fields that reinforced my belief that anything worth understanding could be quantified. If it couldn’t be measured, I didn’t trust it.

Then somewhere along the way, everything changed. I read Mike Dooley’s Leveraging the Universe and the idea that thoughts become things. It cracked something open in me.

I started remembering.

I started remembering what’s real: the unseen, the energetic, those quiet “direct knowings” that come from somewhere true even when science can’t explain them.

I realized there’s as much truth in intuition and gut feelings as there is in data and science.

So I dove into consciousness studies, quantum physics, parapsychology, and astrology. Suddenly, the science I’d always trusted and the magic I’d always felt stopped contradicting each other.

They became two sides of the same truth: everything is energy.

This realization changed everything: how I think, how I create, and how I help others communicate who they are.

Resume by Nico became the expression of that shift: a space where data meets design, strategy meets soul, and your career story becomes an energetic match for what’s next.

Okay, But How Did You Become a Resume Writer?

You might be wondering how all that turned into writing resumes for a living. Fair. Let’s rewind.

Before I went to grad school, I was working as an office manager at a mental health facility in Boston. When it came time to leave for California, I had to find and hire my own replacement. Reviewing hundreds of resumes showed me just how quickly people get sized up on paper and how many brilliant candidates were underselling themselves.

Two years later, with my Master’s degree in tow, it was my turn to job search. I started thinking like a hiring manager: What do I want to see first? What do I want to see fast? I designed my own resume with intention, clarity, and visual flow — and got interviews for every single job I applied for. My classmates noticed, asked for help, and suddenly I was building resumes for everyone I knew.

Between interviewing for roles like Program Evaluator, OD Consultant, and Institutional Researcher, I put an ad on Craigslist (yes, really) and built my first website (with zero know-how; I love learning by doing). I didn’t know it then, but that was the start of Resume by Nico.

During those first few years, I was also juggling work as a virtual assistant, marketing designer, and social media strategist for small businesses and nonprofits — all of which taught me marketing, design, and strategy.

But in 2017, I let the rest fall away and returned to what’s always felt innate: the art of using words, layout, and design to influence decisions and help people feel truly seen.

Stats, Snacks, and Star Signs

Some data points that don’t fit on a resume

My Spotify rotation lives somewhere between chillwave and nostalgic angst — Dermot Kennedy, Qveen Herby, and Good Charlotte keep fighting for top spot
